Bulletin No.652 February 19th 2017

Saint Felix ChurchThe painting of the inside of the Church begins on Monday 20th February.  Hopefully it will be complete within less than two weeks, and so please try to come along to clean the Church on Saturday 4th March at 10 a.m. Thank you to those who have supported the various events held to help raise money towards the costs of the redecoration, and to those who have made personal donations – large or small – it all helps and is appreciated!

White Flower Collection:  After the appeal talk last weekend, the collection to support the work of the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC) will be taken up as a retiring collection this weekend.  Please be as generous as possible and help to make 2017 a landmark year in SPUC’s historic campaign to win legal protection for unborn children.

New Altar Servers:  Would you like to serve at the altar?   Have you made your First Holy Communion?   Come along to a meeting on Thursday at 5 p.m. in St. Alban’s Church to learn more.

Children’s Liturgy:  There will be a meeting for all leaders and helpers of Children’s Liturgy (including those who have offered to help or are interested in helping) on Monday 27th of February at 6p.m. in the Presbytery.

Proposed closure of St. Alban’s 6th Form:  The statutory notices were published on 26th of January.   Torfaen’s vision is to see a 6th Form College developed near to the Morrisons’ Store in Cwmbran which will replace all English medium 6th Forms in Torfaen as well as the college on Blaendare Road.  The objection period runs until Thursday 23rd of February.   The Governing Body of the High School have now published their response – a copy of which is available at the back of the Church.  What can you do?   Consider writing to the Chief Executive of the Council, Alison Ward or emailing her at alison.ward@torfaen.gov.uk.  There is also an online petition which can be found at www.change.org and by then searching for Torfaen Post 16.   The final hour of adoration on Monday will be to pray for the future of our schools after which the Parish Council will meet to formulate a response on behalf of the parish community.  Please try to come along!

Touch of Heaven 2018:   Trip to Patmos (details on www.faithcafe.org website) flying on Thursday 13th September 2018 and returning the following Thursday.  The expected cost for all in half board is £1050 (subject to Euro changes).   If you are interested please contact Fr.
