Bulletin No.650 February 5th 2017

Saint Felix ChurchThe painting of the inside of the Church will commence on Monday 20th February and will take up to two weeks to complete.  We need to begin making preparations, and so I draw the following matters to your attention:

  • There will be no 9 a.m. Mass on Sunday 26th February in Saint Felix. St Alban’s looks forward to welcoming you at either the 6 p.m. Mass on Saturday or at 11 a.m. on the Sunday morning.
  • After the 9 a.m. Mass on Sunday 19th February there will need to be ‘all hands on deck’ to move most items from the Church into the Centre. Please clear an extra half an hour to help!
  • At 10 a.m. on Saturday 4th March we need to have a big clean after the workmen have moved out! Again, can you spare half an hour to help?  More hands light work!
  • The cost of this work is going to be in excess of £4,000. There is therefore a need for us to try to raise half of this money through activities and donations.  Please be sure to support the events that are organised – watch this space for further details.  But personal donations from anyone in the community would be very welcome.

White Flower Appeal:  The Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC) is holding its annual appeal next weekend.  In 2017 SPUC is commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the passing of 1967 Abortion Act.  Over 8.7 million unborn children have lost their lives due to abortion in the last 50 years.   Since 1967 SPUC has been working tirelessly to uphold the sanctity of human life from conception until natural death.  Please make 2017 a landmark year in SPUC’s historic campaign to win legal protection for unborn children.  The collection will be taken the following week.   Please be as generous as you can.

Preparation for the Sacrament of Baptism:    The next proposed meetings will be on Saturdays the 4th of March and 11th of  March at 11.30 a.m. in Padre Pio School.   If you wish your child to be baptised, please notes these dates in your diary. The DVD resource that we use has been well received over the last few years, and creates a relaxed and informal gathering which aims to support parents in nurturing their child’s spiritual journey.  These meetings will only go ahead if there are enough candidates.   Please confirm your attendance with Fr. David by the 24th of February.

The Art of Dying Well is a new website that offers a helping hand to those grappling with issues around death and dying.  Based in the Catholic tradition but open to all, it features real-life stories about dealing with the journey through death to eternal life. www.artofdyingwell.org.     Please pick up a prayer card at the back of the Church.

Parishioners in hospitalPlease let Fr. David know if you are aware of any of our parishioners being in hospital.  He would prefer to hear it from a dozen people than not to know at all!
