As the preparation of the young people who are to be confirmed this year, draws to a close and the Sacrament draws near, they will officially join ‘The Elected’ in a short ceremony at the 11a.m. Mass today. Please keep them in your prayers both now and as they become full members of the church fulfilling all that this membership entails.
Chrism Mass: This year this will take place on WEDNESDAY 23rd March at 11.30 a.m. in our Cathedral. During this Mass, celebrated by Archbishop George with all of the priests of our Archdiocese, the Oil of Catechumens and the Oil of the Sick are blest and the Oil of the Chrism is consecrated, which are then distributed and used throughout the Archdiocese whenever the Sacraments are celebrated. Also during this Mass, we as Ordained Priests, renew our commitment to serve the needs of our Archdiocese, while you as the lay faithful renew your commitment to support us and pray for us as we minister among you. Please make every effort to attend this beautiful and inspiring celebration.
The Easter Triduum: to participate in the three days of the Triduum is a privilege! And not a chore as many seem to view Church-attendance today! We enter into the mystery of the Lord’s life-giving death and resurrection and are invited to renew our own commitment as members of the Church and to remember that whenever we come to celebrate the Sacrifice of the Mass Jesus is truly present under the appearance of bread and wine. To meet Jesus didn’t happen only 2000 years ago, but happens today whenever and wherever the Mass is celebrated: why would that be considered a chore and not a privilege? What an opportunity we have to be celebrate this privilege by coming to the liturgies of the Triduum this week! Let us also pray for those who will be baptised during the coming celebrations!
Good Friday Collection will be for the Holy Places. Please be as generous as you can.
Church Cleaning for Easter: We would welcome as many people as possible to come on Tuesday after 9.30 a.m. Mass to clean the church for Easter.
Easter Offering Envelopes: are at the back of the Church. The Easter Collection is your offering to the Parish Priest and forms an essential part of his income.
Easter Service Cards are at the back of the Church. Please take one for yourself and another to pass on to anyone who might like to join us for any of our services during Holy Week.
